Vacation Day 11: Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

We started off this morning with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We thought the boys would be interested, but it took a little too long between balloons, so they got bored. We spent the morning preparing the Thanksgiving Meal. Vavu started the turkey, Andrew started peeling the potatoes, and Vavo started setting the tables. We looked at the thermometer and saw that it was 26 degrees this morning!

Aiden had been wanting to ask Santa for a Spiderman vest and a wrestling ring like in the first Spiderman movie for Christmas, so this morning we wrote a letter to send to Santa at the North pole. Aiden dictated the letter, and Maria wrote it. Aiden’s letter said,

“Please Spiderman. Please Cars. Play toys. In the cage like the Spiderman movie. Thank you Santa. Santa can you bring this movie for me? Bring some more presents. Bye Bye! See you tomorrow. –Aiden.

Since the Summits work for the Post Office, Stephanie said that she would mail it out for us. Thanks, Steph!

In the afternoon, everyone came over and we enjoyed a nice meal. The Summits joined us – Justin and his girlfriend Jasmine flew in for Thanksgiving, and Tim and Heather drove up from Kansas City (they had been staying with Steph). There was plenty of turkey and shay and potatoes and cranberry and pies....mmmm...pies!!! We had apple, blueberry, chocolate, banana cream, and pumpkin pies! And the turkey was so good – Vavu injected it with Apricot brandy and Worstechire. It added a really nice flavor.

The cousins had fun playing again today. Maddie and Aiden were pretending to run away from an alligator. Maria snuck up on them hiding behind the doorway to the bathroom having a little conversation and snapped a quick pic! Maddie was asking Aiden, “How was Disneyworld?”, and Aiden replied, “we didn’t go yet”.

We spent the afternoon and evening playing games while the kids and Vavu watched Polar Express. We played the Bean Game, Scrutineyes, Scattergories and Cranium.

Aiden dressed up in his Spiderman suit to show everyone. Later in the evening, he tripped on the long legs which had come uncuffed, and fell into the toilet. That was exciting and very upsetting to Aiden.

It was a really nice day. The weather got really cold in the evening – back into the 20’s. And when Tim and Heather got back to Kansas City, they called and told us they had snow tonight! Florida sure will be a change in weather from here. The highs are predicted in the upper 70’s and low 80’s – the lows are supposed to be in the 60’s. Not what you would call a White Christmas! There is a lot of rain predicted, though. Thunderstorms and showers the whole first 5 days we’re there.

------------------------------------------
The best part of day 11 was turkey, pies and games with family.
The worst part of day 11 was poor Aiden falling in the toilet!
What we learned on day 11 was Arkansas sure gets cold in the winter! A flying buttress is a thingie on a castle (we think).
The weather on day 11 was sunny but very chilly – high of 44 degrees, low of 22.
