Today the sky was clear and we were ready to go. We headed out in the morning for the Town of Gentry, about 45 minutes away, to see the Drive-Thru Animal Safari. It was much bigger than we would have imagined, and had all kinds of animals! Here is a link to their list of animals on their website: http://www.wildwildernessdrivethroughsafari.com/animals.htmlThe animals certainly weren’t shy at all. They walked right up to our windows and got right in our faces! Jeremy was cracking up, saying that the animals were “funny”!
One of the many friendly emus & ostriches.

Aiden saw this Rhino laying on the ground and said that it was "broken".
Aiden making friends with one of the locals @ the safari. We spent a couple hours there, then headed out for lunch. We ate at the drive-in Sonic, where you pull up into a parking space, and servers come to your window with your order and a person comes around with a condiment tray. It was fun! We tried to eat out on a picnic table nearby, but it was soooo cold, we got back in the van to finish eating. Jeremy was kind of fussy because he is cutting two new teeth right now, and one of the employees felt bad for him cuz he was crying, and brought out toys for him and Aiden. So they both have new little motorcycle toys!
During naps, Drew and Maria headed out to shop for a new bag for Maria to use at DisneyWorld, because her backpack zipper broke at security at the airport (dang). We went to this new area called Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers, AR. Here’s the website: http://www.pinnaclehillspromenade.com/html/index10.aspIt had really nice stores, and was nice and clean and new...just like Maria likes! Yay! We went in American Eagle Outfitters, Charlotte Russe, Coach, Dillard's, Eddie Bauer, Journeys, Nine West, PacSun, and even saw a University of Arkansas Razorback Shop (it’s all about the Razorbacks here). It was a nice area to walk around. We saw a Starbucks there, too (yay!) but we forgot to stop on our way out (boo!).
After that, we stopped by the local grocery store, Allen’s, to buy items to make dinner – our Rotisserie Chicken Pasta. It was a small store – there was a sign on the window that said
“butcher in until 6pm”. It was so strange to be in a grocery store with no liquor aisle (see day 3 – we’re in a “dry” county)! At the checkout, we asked where the Starbucks was, cuz we had forgotten to go back at Pinnacle Hills, and they were like, “ummmm...” and had to ask someone where there was one. And the guy was like, “if you go 15 miles...”, and we were like, “oh, maybe we’ll go another time, thanks”. He was like, “you aren’t from around here, are you”, and we were like “no”. There’s no Starbucks here in Bella Vista (booooooooooooo – that’s a major boo). Maria will be having withdrawls shortly. In the evening, we made dinner and took it over to the Summits to see their new house and let the boys spend some time playing with Madison. She had been asking to see them. Their new house is so nice! It has plenty of space on the top level to do everything we needed, plus there was a huge bonus level downstairs for a guest room, play, and scrapbooking. They have a really big yard with a nice big two-level deck. It will be nice to go back sometime during the day when we can hang outside. It was too dark and cold tonight.
It was so funny on the way home – the boys were entertaining each other in the car. Aiden would tell Jeremy to say “uh-oh”, then Jeremy would say “uh-oh”, then Aiden would yell, “PAS-GHETTI-O”. They were cracking themselves up. And us, too. :-)
Tomorrow we will be heading over to the Cultural Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony in Town Square in Bentonville. We’re looking forward to that!
----------------------------------------------------
The best part of day 5 was the animal safari.
The worst part of day 5 was Jeremy’s teeth bothering him.
What we learned on day 5 was keep the Orajel handy. The perfect handbag can be on sale and still be $425. When you see a Starbucks, take it! Flip the antenna on the GPS device or it won’t work.
The weather on day 5 was cold and sunny.
