Vacation Day 3: Touring Bella Vista

Today we planned to visit the Gentry Animal Safari, but it was raining (boo-boo). Vavu told us that the weather forecasts here are rarely accurate. And boy was he right! The forecast wasn’t even correct one day in advance! So instead, we decided to get the driving tour of the Bella Vista area. Vavu drove us around the small surrounding towns. We saw like ten-million Sonics and a couple Starbucks’...but no Targets! Everything here is all Wal-Mart, all the time. Wal-Mart Superstores, Wal-Mart administrative offices, Wal-Mart warehouses. It’s everywhere!

We stopped for lunch at Acambaro’s – a local favorite (they have 8 locations)! It was good Mexican food! There was a sign that said no alcohol without ID and membership. Vavo explained to us that NW Arkansas is made up of “dry” counties. It is illegal to purchase alcohol unless you are a member of a private club, and it’s illegal to consume it outside of your home, except in those private clubs.

After lunch, we stopped by Steph’s Post Office to say hi while she was at work. She let us into the back area, where the post office boxes are, and we got to meet her boss.

We spent the afternoon planning our visit to Walt Disney World, choosing which parks to visit on which days, and deciding which restaurants we wanted to make priority seating arangements for.

For dinner, we went to Smokin’ Joe’s BBQ Pit. It had really good BBQ! We even figured out how to use the DVD player in the van on the way, so the boys could watch Ratatouille in transit.

After the boys went to bed, we watched Flight of the Navigator. Maria had never seen it before.

The best part of day 3 was turning on the fireplace in the cold weather.
The worst part of day 3 was the cold weather.
What we learned on day 3 was weather forecasts in AR stink, and it takes forever to get anywhere from Vavo & Vavu’s house.
The weather on day 3 was rainy then cold.
