Vacation Day 47: Snow/Boston's

This morning when we woke up, the ground was powdered with snow. It was very exciting! We got our Bella Vista snow before we left. It was a light dusting, and it melted before noon, but it was a nice surprise to see when we woke up.

We wanted to try to get a start on packing, so we got to doing that slowly. Aunt Diana and Uncle Chuck came over to visit for a little while and say goodbye. They squeezed in a quick game of Pinochle! They brought over a nice Christmas ornament for us, with the Magic Kingdom on it that said “Orlando”. Aiden said, “we better put that on the tree”! It stayed on Vavo and Vavu’s Christmas tree for a little bit – but not too long, because it had to get packed!

Aiden built this town while Aunt Diana played pinochle with Drew, Vavo and Vavu
Angie, Dionne, Peter, Nai and Madison came over to hang out for a while. Dionne, Peter, Nai and Vavo went out shopping for a little while. Vavu, Maria, Auntie Angie and Andrew began a game of Wizard’s Quest, when Uncle Howie came home! He had been visiting his brother for Christmas. We weren’t sure if we were going to get to see him before we had to leave, so it was really great that he came home in time! Madison was so excited to see him! She ran up to him right away and got him involved in a game of The Little Mermaid. The boys were already asleep for their naps, so they didn’t get to see him until later when they woke up.

Welcome home, Uncle Howie!

Wizard’s Quest is an old family favorite. Andrew was really wanting to play. We had a good time creating obstacles for each other, and trying to collect our treasures. Those Orc Frenzies sure are dangerous! It was fun to laugh and mess around. It was a good game.

When everyone got home from shopping, it was almost time for dinner. We decided to meet Steph and Dave at Boston’s. http://www.bostonsgourmet.com/ Boston’s is a gourmet pizza/pasta place. We left the house at 6:30pm. We didn’t get our dinner until 8:15pm!! It was really slow there. That made a lot of us cranky. But we were glad to be there with everyone together for one last big meal. Aiden sat at the complete opposite end of the table from us, and he did really well. Everyone said he was very well-behaved. That was nice to hear. He had a really good time eating over by Madison and Auntie Angie, and he even got to build his own sundae at the end of the meal! Jeremy didn’t do as well. He was cranky a lot of the time. He was over hungry and over tired. Poor little guy. Maria felt sorry for him with his little bruised and scabbed nose. He kept saying, “tired, tired”. :-( Our server brought out a big basket of little toys for him, Madison and Aiden to choose from. Jeremy cheered up from that. He brought home a bracelet and frog. Aiden brought home a ladybug and bracelet.
Our table at Boston's from one end...
Our table from the other end...it was a really long table!

When we got home, we brought everything out from the bedroom (the kids had to go to sleep in there) into the living room to really get going on the packing. It was a mess! There was stuff everywhere, and we weren’t sure how we were going to fit it. But all we could do was begin filling bags...

What a mess!

------------------------------------------
The best part of day 47 was Uncle Howie coming home, Wizard’s Quest, having a big dinner together with the family.
The worst part of day 47 was the service at Boston’s. boo boo.
What we learned on day 47 was Boston’s is slow. Aiden seems to like eating dinner better when he’s far away from Mommy and Daddy (what the heck?). Angie forgets about the tunnel in Wizard’s Quest – get her to plant your treasure.
The weather on day 47 was cold (high of 36 degrees). Maria tried to get away with wearing a light sweatshirt out to dinner and it wasn’t sufficient. Brrrrrr.
