This morning Vavu left to drive Angie, Dionne, Peter and Nai back to Kansas City for their flights back to Sacramento. He left really early, and he and Vavo were gone when we woke up. Vavo was over at the Summits, staying with Madison, because she’s still on school break until Thursday. We still had a lot of packing to do, because we could only get so far last night before we were too tired to continue. There was still stuff strewn out all over the living room floor.
Drew took the kids out to eat breakfast and to WalMart to buy two more pieces of luggage, because we were running out of space in our suitcases. Maria took a shower and began packing more items while they were out.
When they got back, the boys watched Ratatouille while Drew and Maria continued to stuff luggage. It was really hard to convince them to stay on the couch and watch the movie, as they watched all of their new toys being put away. They wanted to play with all of their new stuff.
We did a pretty good job stuffing our luggage to the brim, but that resulted in a couple of problems: 1) there were a few stragglers left over that wouldn’t fit into the already stuffed luggage, 2) a number of our bags were over the 50 lb. limit for checked luggage, and we would have to pay a $50 fee for each item that went over the limit. Even though we were trying to avoid it, we decided to ship one box of stuff back to the house parcel post. This was helpful, because we could put all the little extra things we forgot about in it, and we could decrease the weight of the other bags by removing items and throwing them in the box. In the end, we’ll spend only about $40 to ship that box back, and it saved us a lot in overweight fees and hassle. The box still isn’t taped up, because we are going to add last minute items to it up until when we leave tomorrow morning.
Maria wanted to go to Sonic one last time before we left, because Sonics aren’t plentiful in Sacramento. There’s only one, and it’s in a gas station and doesn’t have a full menu. One was being built in Natomas...is that one done yet? Anyway, we were going to go there for dinner, so we wouldn’t have to hassle with anything for food. But Drew’s sister Steph called and offered to bring over dinner so we could hang out during our last evening in town. We were cool with that, so Maria just went and had Sonic for lunch. Here’s a word of advice: don’t try the Patty Melt. She felt so sick for the rest of the afternoon and early evening. She was laying on the couch moaning under a blanket.Luckily, after a little time passed she was better and the Summits came over for dinner. They brought a beef stew that David found a recipe for. It smelled so good, and it got rave reviews. The smell wafted through the vents in the house...it was so nice.
After dinner we played Disney Pictionary. We played the easy level, and Madison, Aiden and Jeremy participated with us. It was fun – Steph was really tired because she got up so early for work this morning (4am!), but she could still draw a microscope! How is a microscope Disney-related? We don’t know. But it got us a point!
Aiden and Jeremy had a ton of fun playing around with their Uncle David. He was gettin’ him with his “jackhammer” (his arm and elbow), and crawling around on the floor with them piled on top of him. They really loved wrestling around with him. They spent a really long time playing! Thanks Uncle Dave for wearing them out so they could go to sleep tonight!!!
We were glad to be able to spend time with the Summits again before we had to take off. They will be in Sacramento with Vavo and Vavu in May, for Auntie Dionne’s college graduation. So we are already looking forward to seeing everyone again!

The best part of day 48 was spending time with the Summits before we have to leave.
The worst part of day 48 was Sonic’s Patty Melt.
What we learned on day 48 was as Uncle David put it, “Always order burgers from a burger joint”.
The weather on day 48 was cold (high 43, low 20).

Glad to see everyone enjoying the beef-noodle soup. I really enjoyed spending one last night with the boys. They grow up so fast and I miss out on it all. Hope you have a good trip home and you get some time to relax, alone, with just your family. :)
Your packing adventure sounds like mine today. Dang TIM! Remember to mail Gina's present next time!
