This morning Jeremy was home recuperating while the family went to church (sans Maria, who stayed with Jeremy). He started feeling a lot better after his fever went back down (he slept all night without Tylenol, so it went back up during the night).
After church, we all stayed around the house to take it easy. We put up our Christmas tree (thanks, Walgreens) and other Christmas decorations. Aiden was really excited to help decorate the tree. He put his dolphin ornament on that he made in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. He kept asking where all the “other” decorations were. We usually have tons of decorations at our house, and tons on the tree. So he seemed to be waiting for more. Jeremy was more excited to take the decorations off the tree than to put them on, but he helped out, too. We also put up Christmas lights around the front window, the sliding door to the pool, and in the kids’ room. We put the lights on the switch in the kids room, so Aiden can turn them on and off himself.

After naps, we headed over to the Beach Club, where we had dinner planned at the Cape May Cafe. Our dinner was scheduled late, so had a snack and went early to look around at the Christmas decorations at the Beach Club and surrounding resorts.
The Beach Club
The Beach Club had an awesome Carousel made out of gingerbread and chocolate. It was life-size (for kids), and it really spun around. Aiden said, “can I ride that?”. Maria told him he couldn’t ride it because it was made of gingerbread and candy, so then he said, “can I eat it”? It was funny!

We had a few hours before dinner, so we went over to the Yacht club to check out their decor. They had a cool Christmas Tree decorated with yachts. They also had a little Christmas village set up a train going around it. It had special Mickey themed buildings, a gumdrop factory, and Santa hiding out in a cave underneath the mountain.

Next door to the Yacht club was Disney’s Dolphin resort. It had the biggest tree we’ve seen yet. It was decorated with tons of white and pale pink poinsettias, and white lights. It was really beautiful. And a nice surprise sitting in front of the tree when we got there was Santa Claus! There was no line, so we went right up to see him! Jeremy went first. He sat on Santa’s lap and said, “Cheese”! Aiden was reluctant at first, so Maria said she would go with him. He agreed. Then once he got on Santa’s lap, he had lots to say. He told Santa that he wanted cars for Christmas, and sat there chatting it up. He even posed for a picture. Since there were no other people waiting, we all went back up and took a family picture. It was really nice.

Next, we went next door to check out Disney’s Swan resort. It was not really as impressive after seeing the others. One little tree and a couple of reindeer, and that was it! Humph!

On we went to the Boardwalk. This is a resort as well as a recreation and shopping/dining area. There was a magician performing on the Boardwalk, and we stayed and watched the whole show, he was so entertaining. After the show was over, he came up to Aiden and did a trick with him special! It was really cool. He handed Aiden a foam ball and put a ball in his own hand, then when they opened up their hands, Aiden had two foam balls, and the magician had none! Aiden had a look of amazement on his face. It was priceless. Andrew got some video on the camcorder. We will have to have a viewing when we get home!

We checked out a couple of shops, the Wyland Gallery, and one more act along the Boardwalk. Then we checked out the Christmas tree and made our way across the bridge back to where we started at the Beach Club. It was almost time for dinner.
On the way back, Aiden was running and tripped and fell. He scraped up his knees and was bleeding and screaming. So that was a good way to head into a restaurant. Maria got band-aids from the concierge and some Mickey Mouse stickers and fixed him up. He was covered in Mickey stickers. But they seemed to help distract him. Also, there was a TV with Donald and Goofy cartoons in the waiting area for the restaurant. So that helped, too.
The Cape May Cafe is a buffet. We seem to be eating at buffets a lot lately. They had a lot of seafood. How many gazillions of clams and mussels this family ate tonight would be unreal to count. There were shells everywhere.

We ended the evening on the rocking chairs on the patio outside the Beach Club. It was really nice weather this evening – it was around 70 by the time we got home. Aiden’s really excited, because tomorrow we go to Universal and meet Spiderman!

The best part of day 28 was hanging out with Santa all by ourselves, making the rental house more festive, seeing all of those nice resorts, and probably eating clams for Andrew.
The worst part of day 28 was seeing Jeremy not feeling his best, Aiden falling down and getting scraped up.
What we learned on day 28 was the Dolphin is much more impressive than the Swan, one disadvantage to being at the Beach Club at 9:45pm is that the smoke from Illuminations fireworks drifts over and settles right where you are trying to rock in a chair.
The weather on day 28 was hot during the day, nice in the evening.
Our character sightings on day 28 included none.
The crowd level on day 28 was we don’t know, thank goodness! It was nice where we were. :-)
